No Running Signs help you control behaviour in schools, leisure centres, workplaces and public buildings, reducing collision risks where people often move too quickly.
No Running Signs tell pupils, visitors, staff and the public to walk rather than run in shared spaces. You can use them in corridors, entrances, leisure centres and public buildings where slips, trips or collisions are more likely during busy movement.
Best Places to Fit No Running Safety Signs
You should install No Running Signs at eye level near corridor entrances, stair approaches, reception routes, changing areas and school walkways. Position them before the risk point so people see the message before they speed up.
Viewing Distance Guidance for No Running Signs
Choose the sign size around how quickly people approach the area. Smaller signs suit doors and close corridors, while A4 and A3 sizes give clearer visibility across wider walkways, halls and open public routes.
| Size option | Practical viewing guidance |
|---|---|
| H 150 x W 125 mm | Close-range use on doors, tiles and narrow corridors, around 1–3 metres |
| H 210 x W 148 mm | Good for standard corridor approaches and room entrances, around 2–5 metres |
| H 297 x W 210 mm | Clearer for busy walkways, schools and leisure settings, around 4–8 metres |
| H 420 x W 297 mm | Best for larger public routes, halls and higher-footfall areas, around 6–12 metres |

Fitting No Running Signs Where They Will Actually Change Behaviour
❌ Placement mistakes that weaken the message
❌ Do not fit the sign after the corner or doorway where people have already started running.
❌ Do not place it too high for children or visitors to read naturally.
❌ Do not hide it among posters, displays or competing information.
❌ Situations where this sign is not enough
❌ Do not rely on signage alone if flooring is slippery, damaged or poorly maintained.
❌ Do not use it as a replacement for supervision in busy school movement periods.
❌ Do not choose a small size for long corridors or wide public entrances.
✅ Better fitting choices for daily visibility
✅ Fit the sign before the point where people usually begin to rush.
✅ Use adhesive vinyl on clean tiles, glass or smooth painted surfaces.
✅ Choose larger sizes for halls, leisure centres and high-footfall public routes.
